Shimla: Senior Congress leader Rajni Patil called on party leaders in Himachal Pradesh to work with unity and a strong sense of teamwork, stating that the Congress is fighting to protect the Constitution against forces trying to weaken it.
Addressing the first meeting of the Pradesh Congress Working Committee, Patil alleged that the party is not only battling the Bharatiya Janata Party, but also facing challenges at the level of institutions like the Election Commission of India in its fight to safeguard constitutional values.
She emphasized that the party is following the principle of “one person, one post” and highlighted organizational restructuring under the campaign to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. Referring to district-level appointments, she said it was a matter of pride that a district president, Anurag Sharma, was elevated to the Rajya Sabha, reflecting the vision of Rahul Gandhi.
Patil urged party workers to actively participate in upcoming panchayat and municipal elections and stressed that strengthening the organization is the responsibility of every office bearer.
On the occasion, Himachal Pradesh Congress President Vinay Kumar announced that block-level Congress committees would soon be formed. He called on district and block leaders to play an active role in strengthening the party at the booth level and forming strong committees of 25–30 members, including representatives from frontal organizations.
State Organization General Secretary Vinod Jinta informed that a “Connect Center” has been set up at Rajiv Bhavan, the party headquarters, to regularly monitor and review the work of office bearers. He also stressed the importance of maintaining discipline within the organization.
AICC Secretary and co-incharge Vidit Chaudhary encouraged leaders to recognize their capabilities and work in coordination to strengthen the party.
In addition, during the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting, Patil discussed strategies for contesting upcoming municipal and Panchayati Raj elections effectively. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, and other senior leaders.
