Shimla ( Kameshwar Sharma): In a significant action against illegal liquor trade, Jubbal Police in Shimla district achieved a major breakthrough following timely intelligence provided by the local Mahila Mandal Jhagton. Acting on the tip-off, police arrested two individuals involved in liquor smuggling on April 23, 2026, near Badesh village, close to Jhagton.
The police team intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number HP-01A-9727, which was coming from Sawara Bazaar. Upon inspection, authorities recovered a large quantity of illicit country liquor from the car.
The accused have been identified as Sher Singh, son of Amar Singh, resident of Saij Kunain (Kharoara post office, Chakrata tehsil, Dehradun district, currently residing at Mandal Kanchi), and Inder Singh Panta, son of Gulab Singh, resident of Dhadi Ghunsa village in Jubbal tehsil, Shimla district.
During the search, police seized a total of 84 bottles (7 cartons) of illegal liquor, including 36 bottles of Super Santra, 24 bottles of Nati No. 1, and 24 bottles of Santra No. 1.
A case has been registered at Jubbal Police Station under FIR No. 20/2026 under Section 39(1)(a) of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act. Further investigation is underway, and legal proceedings against the accused are in progress.
Police officials appreciated the active role of the Mahila Mandal Jhagton and urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement in curbing illegal activities.
