Continuing its intensified campaign against drug trafficking, the District Shimla Police has carried out another major operation, dealing a strong blow to a narcotics supply network operating in the region.
Acting on specific intelligence received from a confidential informant, police conducted a raid on March 12, 2026, at Badiaara locality. During the operation, police arrested Lalit Kumar alias Bunny, a resident of village Sundha Bhaunda in Chirgaon tehsil of Shimla district. Approximately 6 grams of heroin (commonly known as ‘chitta’) was recovered from his possession.
A case was registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act, and the accused was taken into custody. He is currently lodged in judicial custody, officials confirmed.
Following a detailed investigation and examination of backward links connected to the drug supply chain, police expanded the probe and achieved another breakthrough on March 28, 2026. Two additional suppliers associated with the network were arrested.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shishu Pal (43), son of Narendra, and Ravi Chauhan (31), son of Dina Nath, both residents of village Bartu, Post Office Seema, Rohru tehsil in Shimla district. Both accused were formally arrested under Section 29 of the NDPS Act, which deals with criminal conspiracy and involvement in drug trafficking activities.
According to police officials, the arrested accused will be produced before the competent court, while further investigation into the case is ongoing to uncover additional links in the narcotics network.
Shimla Police stated that the successful operation has created panic among drug traffickers and reaffirmed that the anti-drug campaign will continue with strict action against those involved in illegal narcotics trade.
