Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): During the “Anti-Corruption Day” event held in Shimla, Hiralal Verma, leader of the Joint Action Committee of HPSEBL employees, emphasized the need for a decisive fight against corruption.
Addressing the gathering, Verma stated that corruption is weakening the nation like termites, and it is now essential for employees, engineers, and the general public to collectively stand against it. He appealed to individuals to first eliminate corruption within themselves, saying that real change in society and governance is only possible through self-accountability.
The event also referenced the case of engineer Vimal Negi. It was mentioned that Negi was serving as Chief Engineer at the time, and the circumstances surrounding the decisions he had to take were deeply unfortunate. The matter is currently under investigation by a central agency, and a chargesheet has already been filed. Employees believe that corruption within the department played a significant role in the incident.
Verma further informed that an Anti-Corruption Committee has been formed in the power sector, with Grover appointed as its chairman. The committee is working to ensure transparency and curb corrupt practices within the system.
At the conclusion of the programme, employees took a collective oath to build a corruption-free system and urged workers and engineers across the state to join the campaign. They stressed that only collective efforts can make the state and the country stronger and corruption-free.
