Amritsar: The SC community of Village Ucha Kila Harsha Chhina celebrated the 135th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar with great devotion and enthusiasm at Green Plaza, Adda Kukranwala.
The event began with the recitation of Sri Sukhmani Sahib Path with religious faith and blessings of Waheguru, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the joyous occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, SC community leader and stage secretary Jaspal Singh Cheena said that Dr. Ambedkar gave equal rights to the marginalized sections of society, enabling them to live with dignity and equality. He extended greetings to the community on Ambedkar Jayanti and thanked all the speakers and guests for attending the program.
Addressing the media, Jaspal Singh Cheena, General Secretary of the Farm Labour Union, highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s lifelong struggle against social discrimination. He said that Dr. Ambedkar informed the British government through various conventions about the exploitation faced by the oppressed communities and ensured constitutional rights for Dalits.
He further added that due to Dr. Ambedkar’s vision, the SC community today is educated, empowered, and holding respected positions in society. He said all present achievements are a result of Babasaheb’s contributions.
On this occasion, Manjit Singh (General Secretary, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) and Vijay Atwal (Circle Secretary, Postal Employees Association) also addressed the gathering. They appreciated the efforts of Jaspal Singh Cheena for organizing the event and spreading awareness about constitutional rights, voting rights, and social equality.
They described the celebration as historic, as for the first time the event was organized with such devotion and collective participation of the SC community in the village, bringing unity and awareness among people.
The program was successfully organized with the cooperation of Kuldeep Singh Cheena, Jagtar Singh Gora, Mukhwinder Singh Mahal, Mandeep Singh Dhaliwal, Palwinder Singh Cheena, Ranjit Singh Bhalwan, Dilpreet Singh Cheena, Harjeet Singh Jittu, Diljit Singh Sonu, Gurmeet Singh Cheena, Harpal Singh Bhala, and Joginder Singh Fauji along with others.
