Kullu (Kameshwar Sharma): The RBSK Capacity Building Workshop Kullu equipped frontline health workers with practical skills to identify developmental delays and disabilities in children. Sanfia Foundation and the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC), Regional Hospital Kullu, organized the one-day workshop under the National Child Health Programme (RBSK) at the Government Health Institution, Raison.
Moreover, the programme focused on strengthening early identification, timely referrals, and intervention services for children with developmental challenges.
ASHA workers and CHOs receive practical training
Around 50 ASHA workers and Community Health Officers (CHOs) attended the RBSK Capacity Building Workshop Kullu. During the programme, Dr. Mohit, Medical Officer, appreciated the organizers for conducting the training and highlighted its importance for community healthcare.
Notably, this was the second training workshop organized for ASHA workers in the Raison area.
Interactive case studies improve learning
To make the training more effective, experts conducted interactive case study sessions. Participants learned how to identify developmental milestones, recognize early warning signs, and follow the correct referral process.
Furthermore, trainers discussed effective counselling techniques to help families understand developmental concerns and access appropriate healthcare services.
Foundation highlights early identification
Speaking during the event, Dr. Shruti Bhardwaj, Director of Sanfia Foundation, said the organization is working to strengthen regular monitoring of children’s developmental milestones at the community level.
She added that early identification allows children with developmental delays or disabilities to receive timely support through the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) and other specialized healthcare services.
Health awareness remains the priority
Meanwhile, Biju Himdal explained the mission and vision of Sanfia Foundation during the workshop. He also said the organization continues to work closely with the Health Department to promote awareness, disability inclusion, and early intervention services. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of community participation in ensuring timely support for children with developmental challenges.
Finally, participants described the training as highly beneficial and recommended organizing similar workshops regularly. According to the organizers, such programmes will strengthen the objectives of RBSK. In addition, they will improve the early detection of developmental delays and ensure timely intervention for affected children.
