Punjab Gets ₹39,428 Cr Investment, Says Sanjeev Arora

Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora highlighted the state’s major achievements and upcoming initiatives during the Diamond State Conference, stating that Punjab has recorded its highest-ever investment in the financial year 2025–26.

According to the minister, the state attracted a total investment of ₹39,428 crore, generating employment opportunities for nearly 5.5 lakh people. He emphasized that nearly 80% of these investments came from existing investors, reflecting growing confidence in Punjab’s business environment.

Infrastructure Driving Investment Growth

Arora credited the rise in investment to key infrastructure and policy initiatives, including the Halwara Airport project, elevated highways, and the implementation of a new industrial policy. He also noted that issues related to gas shortages and hoarding in the industrial sector have been effectively controlled.

Improvements in Education and Healthcare

The minister said significant reforms have also been introduced in education and healthcare sectors. Government schools have been upgraded with smart classrooms, teacher training programs, and modern laboratories to improve learning standards.

Under the Chief Minister Health Scheme, nearly 30 million people are currently receiving cashless medical treatment, strengthening public healthcare access across the state.

Welfare Schemes and Law & Order

Arora stressed that Punjab’s law and order situation remains strong, ensuring a safe environment for investors. He also highlighted several welfare initiatives, including:

  • ₹1,000 monthly allowance for women
  • Free electricity schemes
  • Subsidies provided through the state power board

Political Outlook

Commenting on the political scenario, Arora stated that the opposition in Punjab remains weak and expressed confidence that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) aims to win around 100 seats in the upcoming elections.

He expressed optimism that continued investments and industrial expansion would help Punjab move towards becoming a self-reliant state in the coming years.
