Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Launches ₹114 Crore Road and Irrigation Projects in Patiala’s Sanaur

Bhagwant Mann Launches ₹114 Cr Development Projects

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday inaugurated a new phase of development in the Sanaur constituency of Patiala by announcing major infrastructure and irrigation projects aimed at strengthening rural connectivity and supporting farmers.

During the event, the Chief Minister announced road renovation works worth ₹87 crore along with canal lining projects valued at ₹27 crore. These irrigation initiatives are expected to provide water supply for agricultural purposes across 83 villages, benefiting more than 40,000 acres of farmland.

The announcement generated significant enthusiasm among local residents, as the projects are directly linked to rural development and improving the economic condition of farmers in the region.

Addressing the gathering, Mann said that roads constructed during previous governments often deteriorated quickly due to corruption and poor-quality work. He emphasized that under the new policy, contractors are now required to ensure mandatory maintenance for five years, ensuring accountability and long-term durability of infrastructure projects.

The Chief Minister further stated that Punjab is currently witnessing its largest-ever road construction drive. The state government has set a target of constructing and upgrading 44,920 kilometers of roads at an estimated cost of ₹16,209 crore. This initiative is expected to significantly improve transportation facilities while strengthening connectivity in rural areas across the state.

The government believes these development projects will accelerate economic growth, enhance agricultural productivity, and improve the overall quality of life for people living in Punjab’s villages.
