Amritsar: In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police has successfully busted an ISI-backed terror module in a joint operation conducted by Amritsar Rural Police and Faridkot Police. The operation led to the arrest of six accused involved in the grenade attack on Bhindi Saida police station.
During the operation, police also recovered two pistols from the possession of the arrested individuals, highlighting the seriousness of the terror network.
According to preliminary investigations, the module was allegedly operating with the support of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The accused were reportedly in contact with a Pakistan-based handler who was directing terror-related activities in Punjab from abroad.
Police revealed that on the intervening night of March 29–30, 2026, the accused procured hand grenades, conducted reconnaissance of the targeted area, and carried out the attack on the police station.
Investigations further revealed that the accused were radicalized and motivated to target police establishments. They were allegedly lured with financial incentives to execute such violent acts.
In this case, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Arms Act.
Punjab Police officials stated that further investigations are underway to trace all forward and backward linkages of the network to completely dismantle the terror module.
Reiterating their commitment, Punjab Police emphasized that maintaining peace and communal harmony in the state remains their top priority, and strict action will continue against any form of terrorist activity.
