Meri Rasoi Yojana Delivers 4.5 Lakh Food Kits in Punjab

Chandigarh: Meri Rasoi Yojana continues to provide relief to thousands of families across Punjab. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak announced that the state government has already distributed more than 4.5 lakh food kits under the welfare scheme.

The government launched Meri Rasoi Yojana to provide nutritious food support to poor and needy families. Moreover, the initiative aims to strengthen food security and improve access to essential household food items for eligible beneficiaries.

40 Lakh Families Covered Under the Scheme

According to the minister, the Punjab Government plans to provide food kits to nearly 40 lakh economically weaker families across the state.

Furthermore, the scheme supplements the food grains already provided under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). As a result, beneficiaries receive additional support to meet their monthly nutritional needs.

Essential Items Included in Every Food Kit

Under Meri Rasoi Yojana, each food kit contains several essential items for monthly household consumption.

The kit includes:

  • 2 kg Pulses (Dal)
  • 2 kg Sugar
  • 1 kg Salt
  • 200 grams Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Liter Mustard Oil

In addition, these food kits are distributed alongside the wheat already provided to eligible NFSA beneficiaries.

50,000 Food Kits Distributed Daily

The minister revealed that the government currently delivers nearly 50,000 food kits every day across Punjab.

Consequently, a large number of families receive direct assistance on a regular basis. Furthermore, the distribution system ensures that benefits reach deserving households efficiently and transparently.

As a result, the scheme has emerged as an important support mechanism for low-income families struggling with rising household expenses.

Successful Wheat Procurement Season

During the review meeting, Lal Chand Kataruchak also praised officials and employees for successfully managing the recently concluded wheat procurement season.

Moreover, he credited the success to improved infrastructure and smooth arrangements at grain markets across the state.

According to the minister, efficient planning and coordination helped ensure hassle-free procurement operations for farmers.

Preparations Begin for Paddy Procurement Season

The minister also directed officials to begin preparations for the upcoming paddy procurement season.

Furthermore, he instructed departments to ensure all necessary arrangements well in advance. Therefore, authorities aim to replicate the success achieved during the wheat procurement season.

He emphasized that strong planning, infrastructure readiness, and efficient management will remain key priorities during paddy procurement operations.
