Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Flags Off 508 Emergency Response Vehicles, Promises 6-Minute Police Response

Punjab Launches 508 ERVs to Ensure 6-Minute Police Response

In a major step toward strengthening law and order in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann flagged off 508 Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) from Sangrur, announcing a faster police response system across the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Punjab Police will now aim to reach citizens within six minutes during emergency situations — a response time comparable to policing models followed in developed countries such as the United States and Europe.

The newly launched vehicles have been deployed across all 28 police districts of the state under the Dial-112 emergency response service. Equipped with advanced technology, these ERVs are expected to significantly enhance ground-level policing and improve emergency handling efficiency.

Mann revealed that over ₹327 crore has been spent in the past four years on upgrading police vehicles and modernizing the force. He emphasized that these efforts have strengthened the state’s law enforcement system and improved overall public safety.

The Chief Minister also claimed that improved security arrangements have boosted investor confidence in Punjab. He cited Tata Steel’s major investment in the state as an example, adding that enhanced law and order is contributing to Punjab’s economic growth and development.

During the event in Sangrur, Mann also took a strong stand against drug abuse and appealed to citizens to socially boycott drug traffickers. He said drug addiction has destroyed several generations and stressed that society must collectively work to eliminate the menace.

The initiative marks a significant push by the Punjab government toward modern policing and quicker emergency response services aimed at ensuring public safety across the state.
