Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The two-day Mashobra Sipur District Level Fair began today in Sipur village near Mashobra with great enthusiasm. The event started with a unique moment as 90-year-old local resident Muratu Devi inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.
Her presence made the opening ceremony special and inspiring for the entire community.

During the inauguration, Muratu Devi emphasized the importance of women empowerment. Moreover, she said that real empowerment means giving women equal opportunities, freedom of expression, and the right to make their own decisions.
In addition, she highlighted that women are now contributing significantly to both social and economic development. According to her, government efforts have helped women become stronger in every field.

Fair committee coordinator welcomed the chief guest and shared details about the event. He stated that the fair has been organized continuously for the past 37 years with community support.
Furthermore, he said that for the first time, the committee decided to invite the oldest woman of the area as chief guest to promote women empowerment. Consequently, this decision received appreciation from villagers and participants.

The fair has also become a major sports platform. This year, 36 teams are participating in various competitions.
In volleyball, 18 teams are competing. Similarly, 8 teams are participating in men’s kabaddi, while 10 teams are competing in women’s kabaddi.

Several schools participated in cultural performances during the event. These include Government Senior Secondary School Mashobra, Bagthal School, Moolkoti School, Maya Public School Mashobra, Model Education School Mashobra, and Sophia School Mashobra.
