Major Air Safety Scare Averted at Delhi Airport as Two Planes Come Close

Near Miss Between Two Flights at Delhi Airport

New Delhi: A major aviation mishap was narrowly averted at Indira Gandhi International Airport when two aircraft came dangerously close during ground operations.

The incident occurred when an Akasa Air aircraft (VT-YBA), scheduled to depart from Delhi to Hyderabad, was undergoing pushback procedures. At the same time, a SpiceJet aircraft (VT-SLB), which had arrived from Leh, was taxiing from the runway towards the gate.

According to initial reports, the close proximity of the two aircraft raised serious safety concerns, but a potential collision was successfully avoided.

Airport authorities are expected to review the incident to determine the exact cause and assess whether there was any lapse in ground coordination or air traffic control procedures.

Further details are awaited as officials examine the sequence of events that led to the near miss.
