Kumarsain: In a major breakthrough, police in Kumarsain have arrested another accused in an ongoing NDPS case, recovering 2.039 kilograms of opium. With this latest seizure, the total recovery in the case has crossed 11.5 kilograms.
The case, registered under FIR No. 31/2026 dated March 26 under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act, is currently under detailed investigation focusing on backward linkages.
Accused Identified
The arrested accused has been identified as Laxmi (46), a resident of Lamjung district in Nepal. She was currently running a tea stall in Kandaghat, district Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
Organized Drug Network Link
According to police investigations, the accused was part of an organized drug trafficking network and was working as a listed wholesale client of the syndicate.
Earlier arrested accused had allegedly supplied the opium to her while traveling towards Shimla, and she was planning to distribute it further illegally.
Police Action and Recovery
Acting swiftly on technical and field intelligence, police apprehended the accused in the Kandaghat area on April 13, 2026, and recovered 2.039 kilograms of opium from her possession.
Investigation Ongoing
So far, four accused have been arrested in the case. The accused was produced before the court, which granted five days of police remand.
Police teams are now working to uncover the entire network and trace further links in the drug trafficking chain. The investigation is ongoing.
