In a disturbing incident during election campaigning in Kerala, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s car was attacked in the Vandur area of Malappuram district. According to reports, a group of individuals blocked Tharoor’s vehicle and assaulted his gunman.
The attack took place while Tharoor was en route to a rally supporting UDF candidate A.P. Anil Kumar. Tharoor was traveling in the first car of a two-vehicle convoy. The confrontation reportedly began when the second vehicle attempted to overtake another car, escalating into a physical altercation.
A group of approximately eight people, traveling in two different vehicles, stopped Tharoor’s car. When Tharoor’s gunman stepped out to ensure security, he too was attacked. Tharoor’s team described the incident as a pre-planned attack, possibly orchestrated by rival political elements to create unrest during the election campaign.
Quickly responding to the situation, the Vandur police registered an FIR under various sections of the law. Two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the attack. Police are investigating the incident further.
