Himachal (Kameshwar Sharma): The latest Himachal Weather Alert indicates another major weather change across the state. The weather may remain clear today, but a fresh western disturbance will become active from May 11.
According to the Meteorological Department, Himachal Pradesh may witness rain, thunderstorms, hailstorms, and strong winds for the next five days. Higher reaches may also receive light snowfall.
Officials advised residents and tourists to remain alert because weather conditions may change rapidly in several districts.

The Meteorological Department said rain and thunderstorms are likely in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla on May 11.
Strong winds may blow at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in these areas. Therefore, the department issued a yellow alert and advised people not to stand under trees or in open spaces during storms.

During this period, stormy winds may reach speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. Officials warned that the bad weather could affect traffic movement and horticulture activities across the state.
Snowfall Expected in Higher Areas
The Himachal Weather Alert also includes strong wind warnings for Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts.
Temperatures may fall in higher regions, and some areas could receive light snowfall. The Meteorological Department advised tourists and local residents to avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable mountain regions.

Weather May Improve After May 15

However, weather conditions may improve slightly from May 14 onward. Light to moderate rainfall may continue in middle and higher hills, while high-altitude areas of Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti could still receive light snowfall.
According to the Himachal Weather Alert, weather conditions may partially improve on May 15. Plain areas may witness clear skies, while isolated mountain regions could still receive light rain or snowfall.
