Governor Kavinder Gupta chaired the Statehood Day celebrations of Rajasthan, Odisha, and Bihar at Lok Bhavan today. The event was organized under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, aimed at strengthening cultural unity and emotional integration among Indian states.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor honored distinguished guests by presenting traditional Himachali caps and shawls as symbols of unity, brotherhood, and cultural harmony.
The program featured vibrant cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage and traditions of Rajasthan, Odisha, and Bihar. Government employees belonging to these states shared their experiences of working and living in Himachal Pradesh, highlighting the warmth, cooperation, and sense of belonging they have received in the state.
In his address, Governor Gupta emphasized that India’s strength lies in its “unity in diversity.” He noted that initiatives like Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat play a vital role in promoting mutual understanding and respect among people from different regions, thereby reinforcing national integration.
He further stated that Bihar, Rajasthan, and Odisha are renowned for their ancient civilizations, rich histories, and vibrant cultural traditions. Understanding each other’s languages, customs, and cultures strengthens national unity and social harmony.
The Governor also acknowledged the significant contribution made by people from these states toward the development of Himachal Pradesh. He added that cultural exchanges help foster mutual respect and strengthen the social fabric of the nation.
On the occasion, the Governor announced that Lok Bhavan, Shimla, will now be opened to the general public twice a week. The initiative aims to bring the institution closer to citizens and encourage greater public participation and emotional connection with the establishment. He stressed that Lok Bhavan should not remain limited to official functions but should also reflect public aspirations and engagement.
Governor’s Secretary Sandeep Bhardwaj was also present at the event.
