The district executive meeting of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) was held at the CITU office in Putlighar, Amritsar, under the chairmanship of Charanjit Majitha. Key organizational decisions and upcoming programmes were announced during the meeting.
Sharing details with the media, District General Secretary Sucha Singh Ajnala stated that all trade unions will observe a Black Day protest on April 1 at Gate No. 22 in Amritsar. He said CITU workers will participate in large numbers to highlight workers’ issues and collective demands.
The meeting also decided to organize a tribute programme on April 13 to honor the martyrs of the historic Jallianwala Bagh massacre. A seminar will be conducted to commemorate the sacrifice of those who lost their lives during the tragic event.
According to organizers, national-level leaders including Comrade Usha Rani and A.R. Sidhu, along with Punjab state leadership, will address the seminar. Lawyers, doctors, teachers, and members associated with CITU are expected to participate in the event.
Several union members attended the meeting, including Kripa Ram, Vijay Kumar, Pratap Singh, Jaspal Sharma, Gurmeet Kaur Sibbu, Kawaljeet Kaur, Raja Ram, Dharampal, Balbir Singh, Suraj, Rakesh Kumar, Swinder Singh Mirakot, Bhupinderjeet Singh Chhina, Ranjit Singh Bal, Mahinder Singh Khahira, and Jeet Raj, among others.
The meeting concluded with a call for unity among workers and strengthened participation in upcoming union activities and commemorative events.
