Amritsar Police Destroy Seized Drugs in 91 NDPS Cases

The Commissionerate Police, Amritsar, destroyed seized narcotic substances linked to multiple cases registered under the NDPS Act as part of its ongoing anti-drug campaign.

The drug disposal operation was carried out on April 4, 2026, at Khanna Paper Mill under the supervision of the officially appointed Drug Disposal Committee. The committee was chaired by Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu (PPS), DCP Investigation, Amritsar, along with members Jagbinder Singh (PPS), ADCP Investigation, and Harminder Singh (PPS), ACP Detective.

According to police officials, narcotics recovered in 91 NDPS Act cases were destroyed in compliance with legal procedures by incinerating the seized material in a boiler at the facility.

The destroyed contraband included:

  • 1.3 kilograms of heroin
  • 3,465 intoxicant capsules
  • 1,748 narcotic tablets
  • 250 grams of poppy husk (Bhuki)
  • 1.515 kilograms of narcotic powder

Officials stated that the disposal process was conducted strictly as per prescribed norms to ensure transparency and prevent misuse of seized substances.

The initiative reflects the Amritsar Police’s continued commitment to curbing drug trafficking and strengthening enforcement under the NDPS Act.
