Tamil Nadu Congress Faces Internal Turmoil Ahead of Assembly Polls, Manickam Tagore Offers Resignation

TN Congress Faces Internal Crisis Ahead of Assembly Polls

Ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Congress party is facing internal dissent as state election management and coordination committee chairman Manickam Tagore offered his resignation to the party president. Sources indicate that Tagore is unhappy with the party’s seat allocation strategy in the state.

Tagore alleged that Congress was deliberately assigned weaker assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu, a move that could negatively affect the party’s electoral performance. Senior state leaders expressed concern that the internal disagreement may further impact the party’s preparations for the polls.

Prior to the seat-sharing arrangement, the ruling DMK had reportedly pressured Congress to quickly finalize an agreement on the allocation of constituencies. However, serious questions regarding the fairness and strategy of seat distribution have now emerged from within the party itself.

According to sources, Tagore’s resignation letter highlighted concerns over both organizational strategy and seat distribution, emphasizing the need for strong corrective measures to strengthen the party’s position in Tamil Nadu. Following the resignation offer, internal pressure on the Congress leadership has intensified, and discussions regarding the issue have gained momentum in political circles across the state.

The development comes at a crucial time, as the party seeks to solidify its electoral strategy and maintain unity ahead of the polls in Tamil Nadu.
