A suspected blast occurred outside the BJP office in Sector 37, Chandigarh, around 5 PM on Wednesday, damaging nearby vehicles and creating panic in the area. The incident has been widely circulated on social media, though news outlets have not independently verified the footage.
According to preliminary reports, several vehicle windows were shattered and minor damage was reported to other cars parked nearby. The sound of the explosion was reportedly heard from a significant distance. Police and the fire department reached the site promptly after receiving information about the incident.
The area surrounding the office, including nearby petrol pumps and lawyers’ chambers, has been cordoned off by Chandigarh police. SSP Kanwardeep Kaur confirmed that a bomb-like object was thrown at the location and an investigation is underway. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the person responsible for the act.
BJP leader Vineet Joshi stated that the blast caused minor damage to some vehicles, and police were immediately informed. The authorities are taking all necessary precautions to secure the area and ensure public safety while the investigation continues.
