Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The CM Sukhu Biga Bhangal Visit brought joy and renewed hope to residents of one of Himachal Pradesh’s most remote regions. After nearly 15 years, a sitting Chief Minister visited Biga Bhangal. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also became the first CM in recent years to spend the night in the area.
Residents, especially young people, welcomed the visit with great enthusiasm. Many of them saw a Chief Minister in person for the first time.
Chief Minister Spends Night in Remote Region
During the CM Sukhu Biga Bhangal Visit, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stayed overnight with local residents.
Moreover, the visit reflected the government’s “Government at the Doorstep” initiative. Under this approach, the Chief Minister regularly visits remote villages and spends time with local communities.
Earlier, he visited Dodra Kwar and Kupvi in Shimla district. He also toured Baga Sarahan in Kullu district. In addition, he stayed overnight in remote villages of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur to understand local issues firsthand.
Residents Welcome Historic Visit
Local residents described the CM Sukhu Biga Bhangal Visit as historic.
According to villagers, no Chief Minister had visited the region since 2011. Therefore, people expressed happiness that the state government had once again reached one of Himachal Pradesh’s most isolated areas.
Furthermore, residents said the Chief Minister’s announcements and directions to officials would accelerate development in Biga Bhangal.
CM Promotes Local Culture
During the visit, the Chief Minister actively participated in local cultural programmes.
He wore the traditional Chola-Dora attire and joined local artists in performing folk dances.
As a result, the gesture strengthened his interaction with local communities and highlighted the importance of preserving traditional culture.
Farmers and Shepherds Share Their Concerns
The Chief Minister also visited agricultural fields and interacted directly with farmers.
During the discussions, farmers raised issues related to rajma cultivation, production, and marketing. Shepherds also shared their concerns regarding wool production and livestock.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister assured them that the state government would continue supporting natural farming and improving farmers’ incomes.
Government Expands Support for Natural Farming
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted several measures to strengthen natural farming.
He said the government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wool at ₹100 per kilogram, benefiting shepherds across the state.
Additionally, under the Rajiv Gandhi Natural Farming Start-up Scheme, the government increased the MSP for naturally grown wheat from ₹60 to ₹80 per kilogram. It also raised maize MSP from ₹40 to ₹50 per kilogram.
The government increased the MSP for barley grown in the Pangi Valley from ₹60 to ₹80 per kilogram. Furthermore, it raised turmeric MSP from ₹90 to ₹150 per kilogram and fixed the MSP for ginger at ₹30 per kilogram.
Senior Officials Attend the Visit
Local MLA Kishori Lal, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, Superintendent of Police Kulbhushan Verma, and other senior officials accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
Together, they interacted with residents and reviewed development-related issues in the remote region.
