Karnaprayag Sikh Youth Incident Draws Strong Protest

Amritsar (Suraj Kamlesh): The Karnaprayag Sikh Youth Incident has triggered strong reactions from Damdami Taksal chief and Sant Samaj president Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa. He strongly condemned the alleged police action against Sikh youths following the recent incident in Karnaprayag, Uttarakhand.

According to Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa, facts and videos that have surfaced so far indicate that the Sikh youths were not responsible for the dispute. Instead, he claimed that local residents initiated the confrontation. However, he alleged that the police targeted Sikh devotees instead of taking impartial action.

Demand for Immediate Release of Sikh Youths

Referring to the Karnaprayag Sikh Youth Incident, the Damdami Taksal chief demanded the immediate release of the Sikh youths who were arrested. Moreover, he urged authorities to register cases against those who allegedly attacked the devotees.

Demand for Protection of Sikh Pilgrims

The Damdami Taksal chief said the Uttarakhand government has a responsibility to ensure the safety and religious freedom of lakhs of Sikh pilgrims visiting Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib every year.

Moreover, he asserted that the Sikh community would not tolerate discrimination or biased treatment against devotees. He also expressed concern over incidents involving Sikh pilgrims in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh in recent years.

According to him, authorities should expose elements that allegedly attempt to disturb communal harmony and mutual trust.

Delegation to Meet District Magistrate

To pursue justice in the Karnaprayag Sikh Youth Incident, Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa announced the formation of a delegation led by Giani Sahib Singh.

The delegation will also include Giani Satnam Singh, Giani Gurpreet Singh Vaid, Giani Ravinderpal Singh, and Giani Avtar Singh Maluwal. The members will meet the District Magistrate of Karnaprayag and demand a thorough investigation into all aspects of the case.

Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa said Sikh organizations and Sant Samaj would raise the issue at a higher level if authorities fail to ensure a fair investigation.
