Amritsar (Dwarka Nath Rana): The Ghallughara Memorial March will take place in Amritsar on June 5 to mark 42 years of the June 1984 Ghallughara. Sikh organization Dal Khalsa announced the decision during a press conference held in the city.
During the event, Dal Khalsa leaders also expressed concern over the controversy linked to the Punjab government’s law regarding Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji saroops.
Leaders Recall Memories of 1984 Ghallughara
Senior Dal Khalsa leader Paramjit Singh Mand and political affairs secretary Kanwarpal Singh Bittu addressed the media during the press conference.
The leaders said the memories of the 1984 Ghallughara still remain fresh in the minds of the Sikh community. They also stated that the struggle connected with the events of 1984 continues even today.
According to Dal Khalsa, the Ghallughara Memorial March will begin at 5 PM from Burj Akali Phoola Singh and conclude at Akal Takht.
Dal Khalsa Pays Tribute to Sikh Martyrs on Ghallughara Memorial March
Paramjit Singh Mand said the Sikh community will never forget the sacrifices of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Amrik Singh, Subeg Singh and other martyrs connected with the 1984 events.
Furthermore, he announced that Dal Khalsa would soon meet representatives of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Akal Takht Sahib.
The organization plans to present a proposal for a joint memorial dedicated to Sikh martyrs and unidentified individuals who lost their lives after 1984.
Dal Khalsa Criticizes Punjab Government Law
Meanwhile, Kanwarpal Singh Bittu strongly criticized the Punjab government’s law regarding Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji saroops.
He stated that the Sikh community does not require any government law for the protection and respect of Guru Sahib’s saroops. Instead, he demanded strict punishment for those involved in sacrilege cases.
Moreover, Dal Khalsa accused the Punjab government of creating tension between the Sikh Panth and the state through its policies.

During the press conference, Dal Khalsa leaders also criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
They alleged that the government should abandon divisive policies and respect Panthic sentiments. According to the leaders, the government must avoid actions that could increase tension within the Sikh community.
Additionally, Dal Khalsa stated that the organization remains committed to protecting the supremacy of Akal Takht Sahib.
