Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): Under the guidelines of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Punjab, the Education Department conducted the Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) across five examination centres in Amritsar district.
Providing details, District Education Officer (Secondary) Rajesh Kumar Sharma and District Education Officer (Elementary) Kawaljeet Singh Sandhu stated that out of a total of 4,077 registered candidates, 3,838 appeared for the examination, while 239 candidates remained absent.
The officials confirmed that the examination was conducted peacefully and smoothly across all centres without any untoward incident.
In the morning session for PSTET-2, 1,815 out of 1,972 candidates appeared, while 157 were absent, recording an attendance rate of 92.04 percent. In the evening session for PSTET-1, 2,023 out of 2,105 candidates were present, while 82 remained absent, with an attendance rate of 96.1 percent.
Earlier, both education officers inspected various examination centres and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and smooth conduct of the examination.
During the inspections, Deputy DEO Rajesh Khanna, DRC Rajan, District Media Coordinator Parminder Singh, Steno Rajdeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh Wadala Guru, Hatinder Pal Singh (Mall Road), and Lecturer Raminder Pal Singh (Ajnala), along with other officials, were also present.
