BJP Women’s March in Shimla Turns Massive, Targets Congress Over Women’s Rights

BJP Women’s Protest Rally in Shimla Targets Congress Govt

Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The “Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra” organized by the BJP Mahila Morcha at Chaura Maidan, Shimla, witnessed a massive turnout and turned into a powerful show of protest, with thousands of women from across Himachal Pradesh participating and expressing strong anger against the Congress party.

The event, led by BJP Mahila Morcha State President Daisy Thakur, saw the presence of senior party leaders including BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal, State Incharge Shrikant Sharma, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, and Co-Incharge Sanjay Tandon. The venue echoed with slogans of women empowerment, signaling a strong political message for greater participation of women in decision-making.

BJP State General Secretary Payal Vaidya strongly criticized the Congress, stating that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam was a historic step toward granting 33% reservation for women from panchayat to Parliament. She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a special parliamentary session to ensure women’s participation in governance, but the Congress and its allies allegedly blocked the opportunity for political reasons.

BJP Mahila Morcha President Daisy Thakur said the rejection of the bill in Parliament would be remembered as a “dark day” in democratic history, accusing the Congress of using women only as a vote bank while denying them real rights.

State Vice President Rashmi Dhar Sood alleged that Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Trinamool Congress collectively worked against women’s rights, calling it a violation of social justice and equality.

BJP MLA Reena Kashyap accused the state government of misusing administrative machinery to suppress the rally, claiming that buses carrying women from Solan and other areas were stopped and diverted. However, she said the massive turnout defeated such attempts.

BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal accused the Congress of betraying 700 million women by opposing the women’s reservation legislation. He also criticized the state government for failing to fulfill its promise of providing ₹1,500 monthly assistance to 2.8 million women.

Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said the rally marks the beginning of a larger political movement and reflects growing anger among women against the Congress government.

The rally concluded with a unified call for women’s rights, empowerment, and political participation, with BJP leaders asserting that the movement will continue to grow in the coming days.
