Keylong (Kameshwar Sharma): Key preparations for the proposed visit of the Hon’ble President of India to Lahaul-Spiti district were reviewed today in a high-level meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Keylong. The meeting was chaired by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil) Keylong, Kunika Aikers.
Detailed discussions were held on all major arrangements related to the visit, including Sissu helipad readiness, route management, security deployment, traffic regulation, medical arrangements, sanitation, media coordination, and other logistical preparations. Officials were directed to ensure timely completion of all tasks with full coordination to avoid any inconvenience during the visit.
Special emphasis was placed on the operational readiness of the Sissu helipad, repair of key routes, advance deployment of security forces, crowd management, and technical and administrative arrangements in the Atal Tunnel area.
All concerned departments, including district administration, police, BRO, health, public works, tourism, and food and civil supplies, were instructed to work in close coordination.
The meeting also covered traffic management plans, prevention of suspicious activities, media pass issuance, establishment of a control room, deployment of nodal officers, and contingency arrangements for emergencies. Special attention was also given to briefing and resting facilities, preparation of a model room for high-level meetings, and ensuring hygienic food and adequate healthcare services.
The administration further directed that a full-scale rehearsal be conducted soon for a final review of preparations.
Senior officials including Superintendent of Police Lahaul-Spiti Shivani Mehla, Officer Commanding 70 RCC Lt. Col. Tejas More, and Divisional Forest Officer Inderjeet Sira were present at the meeting along with other departmental officers.
The district administration expressed confidence that with coordinated efforts of all departments, the proposed visit of the Hon’ble President will be conducted in a smooth, secure, and dignified manner.
