A tragic incident marred the celebrations of Vaisakhi as an uncle and his nephew drowned in the Beas River near Batale Mand village in Punjab, sending shockwaves across the region.
According to available information, both individuals had gone to the river to take a holy dip on the auspicious occasion of Vaisakhi. During the ritual, they were suddenly caught in the strong current of the river and drowned.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with local divers rushed to the spot. After several hours of intense efforts, both bodies were recovered from the river.
The Dhilwan police reached the scene and have initiated legal proceedings. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
The tragic deaths have left the entire village and surrounding areas in deep mourning, casting a shadow over the festive occasion.
