Dera Bassi: With Punjab gearing up for the 2027 Legislative Assembly elections, political activity in the state has intensified, and the trend of party switching continues ahead of the polls.
The last Punjab Legislative Assembly elections were held in 2022, where the Aam Aadmi Party, led by Bhagwant Singh Mann, secured a major victory.
In the latest political development, the Shiromani Akali Dal has suffered a setback in the Dera Bassi constituency. Hardeep Singh Gazipur, a representative from Ward No. 17 of Zirakpur Municipal Council, along with his supporters, has left the Akali Dal and joined the Congress Party.
The joining ceremony was facilitated by Dera Bassi constituency in-charge Deepinder Singh Dhillon, who formally inducted Hardeep Singh Gazipur and his supporters into the Congress party.
This political shift is being seen as part of the ongoing realignment of leaders and workers ahead of the upcoming elections in Punjab.
