Rampur (Kameshwar Sharma): In a major success for the district police’s anti-drug campaign, 6 Grams of Heroin Seized during a vehicle checking operation in Shimla district led to the arrest of one accused. Police recovered the contraband from a pickup vehicle during a special naka and checking drive near Juri.
The operation formed part of the ongoing campaign launched by Shimla Police to curb drug trafficking and the illegal narcotics trade in the region.
Police Recover Heroin During Vehicle Check
According to police officials, a team from Sarahan Police Post (Camp Juri) was conducting a routine checking operation near JPS School in Juri on June 13, 2026. During the drive, officers stopped a pickup vehicle for inspection.
However, the driver’s suspicious behaviour prompted a detailed search. Consequently, police recovered approximately 6 grams of heroin, commonly known as chitta, from his possession.
Accused Taken Into Custody
Police identified the accused as Deepak Raj (38), son of Moti Ram and a resident of Jaghori village in Rampur subdivision of Shimla district.
Following the 6 Grams of Heroin Seized recovery, officers immediately arrested the accused and seized the pickup vehicle involved in the case. Furthermore, police transported the accused for further legal proceedings.
NDPS Act Case Registered
After the seizure, police registered FIR No. 50/2026 dated June 13, 2026, at Jhakri Police Station. Authorities booked the accused under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Moreover, investigators have launched a detailed probe to determine the source of the heroin and uncover any connections to organized drug trafficking activities.
Investigation Underway
Police officials stated that they will present the accused before the competent court as per legal procedure. Meanwhile, investigators continue to examine all aspects of the case.
Additionally, authorities are working to identify whether the accused had links with other individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
