New Delhi: The Yoga Sangam Portal Registrations have crossed the six lakh mark, giving a major boost to preparations for the 12th International Yoga Day (IDY) 2026. The Ministry of Ayush announced the achievement and highlighted the growing enthusiasm among institutions and communities across the country.
Moreover, the milestone reflects strong public participation in the Yoga Sangam initiative. Under this campaign, organizations across India will conduct synchronized yoga sessions based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) on June 21.
Nationwide Participation Continues to Rise
According to the Ministry of Ayush, the Yoga Sangam Portal Registrations demonstrate unprecedented enthusiasm among institutions and communities.
Furthermore, registered organizations will bring together thousands of participants at their respective locations. Consequently, they will contribute to a nationwide movement that promotes health and wellness.
The ministry described the achievement as a symbol of growing public engagement. Therefore, officials expect participation to increase further in the coming days.
Initiative Reaches Every Corner of India
The Yoga Sangam initiative ranks among the flagship programmes of International Yoga Day 2026. Instead of limiting celebrations to a single venue, the ministry aims to take yoga activities to every corner of the country.
Meanwhile, the portal serves as a digital platform for registration, coordination, and participation tracking. As a result, the initiative has expanded to all states and Union Territories and now covers 778 districts.
The latest figures show that more than 3.22 lakh government institutions have completed their registration on the portal.
Educational Institutions Show Strong Interest
Besides government bodies, educational institutions have also shown remarkable enthusiasm.
Nearly two lakh educational institutions have joined the campaign. Additionally, more than 16,000 private organizations and over 5,000 non-government organizations have registered on the platform.
Furthermore, around 44,000 institutions from other categories have also become part of the initiative. Consequently, the Yoga Sangam Portal Registrations continue to rise at an impressive pace.
West Bengal Leads Registration Numbers
Among the states, West Bengal has recorded the highest participation. The state has registered more than 2.76 lakh institutions on the portal.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan occupies the second position with nearly 1.50 lakh registrations. Moreover, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh have also reported significant participation.
Therefore, the campaign has witnessed strong support from every region of the country.
Theme Focuses on Healthy Ageing
The Ministry of Ayush has urged more institutions and community groups to join the initiative through the portal.
Organizations need to submit their details, contact information, and location during the registration process. Subsequently, the portal issues a reference number to confirm participation.
This year, International Yoga Day 2026 carries the theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The theme emphasizes the long-term health benefits of yoga for people belonging to all age groups.
Growing Popularity of Yoga
The ministry stated that the rising Yoga Sangam Portal Registrations reflect India’s collective commitment to transforming yoga into a celebration of health, wellness, and social harmony.
Moreover, record registrations indicate the increasing popularity of yoga across the country. As a result, millions of people are expected to participate in synchronized yoga sessions scheduled for June 21.
