Vitamin B3 May Help Treat Fatty Liver Expert Study

Nutrition dietitian and child care expert Dr. Archita Mahajan, who holds a Master’s degree in Food Nutrition and Dietetics and is also a homeopathic pharmacist and trained yoga teacher, has highlighted the potential health benefits of Vitamin B3 (Niacin) in managing fatty liver disease and improving overall health.

Dr. Mahajan, who has been nominated for the Padma Bhushan National Award and honored by the Punjab Government, Himachal Pradesh Government, and Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta, shared insights based on recent experimental research conducted on mice.

According to the findings, niacin (Vitamin B3) suppressed miR-93, activated SIRT1, and significantly reduced fat accumulation in the liver along with insulin resistance. Since niacin is already approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and its safety profile is well understood, researchers believe it has strong potential for repurposing as a treatment for fatty liver disease.
