Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): In a significant breakthrough, Shimla Police carried out a Police Seize Heroin operation and recovered around 18 grams of heroin (chitta) from a car during a routine checkpoint in the Sunny area. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals, including a woman, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Vehicle Checking Leads to Major Recovery
On 13 May 2026, the police team from Sunny Police Station set up a checkpoint at Gharat Nala area. During this operation, officers conducted strict vehicle inspections to detect illegal activities.
Meanwhile, a car coming from the Shimla side was stopped for routine checking. Police carried out a search of the vehicle in the presence of independent witnesses to ensure transparency in the procedure.
During the search, officers recovered approximately 18 grams of heroin from the possession of two occupants inside the car. Consequently, the police immediately detained both suspects for questioning.
Police Seize Heroin: Arrested Accused Identified
The police identified the arrested individuals as Mahesh Kumar, son of Balram, resident of Khamarla village in Bhantal post office, Karsog tehsil of Mandi district, and Manorama Devi, wife of Purushottam Ram, resident of Jhamyat village in Jinjhadi post office, Bhoraanj area of Hamirpur district.
Furthermore, police took both accused into custody on the spot after recovering the contraband substance. Police confirmed that they followed all proper legal procedures during the operation.
NDPS Case Registered
Following the recovery, Sunny Police Station registered case number 19/2026 under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act. These sections deal with possession and involvement in drug trafficking activities.
In addition, Police Seize Heroin initiated further investigation to trace the supply chain and identify other possible links connected to the case. Officials stated that they are working to uncover the wider network behind the drug distribution.
Court Proceedings and Investigation Underway
After the arrest, police started the process of presenting both accused before the Hon’ble Court as per legal guidelines. Authorities emphasized that the investigation will continue in a systematic and transparent manner.
