Shimla Police Arrest Youth with 5.37g Heroin

Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, Shimla Police has achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting a young man with heroin under the NDPS Act.

A case (FIR No. 75/2026) has been registered at West Police Station under Section 21 of the NDPS Act. According to police officials, on April 25, 2026, a Special Cell team was on patrol duty near Sankat Mochan Temple when they received a tip-off.

The information revealed that Ritik Thakur (26), a resident of Kupvi area in Shimla district, was traveling from Chandigarh to Shimla in a rented taxi and was suspected of carrying “chitta” (heroin).

Acting swiftly, the police intercepted the suspected taxi and conducted a search as per legal procedures. During the search, 5.37 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of the accused.

The police immediately arrested the accused on the spot. He is set to be produced before the court, and further investigation is underway to uncover additional links in the case.

Officials stated that strict action against drug trafficking will continue, and all angles related to the case are being thoroughly examined.
