Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The Shimla Police Arrest Proclaimed Offender campaign achieved a major breakthrough after police arrested a proclaimed offender who had been absconding for nearly 13 years. The arrest marks a significant step toward ensuring the effective implementation of court orders and strengthening the judicial process.
During the special operation, the Rampur Police and the Proclaimed Offender (PO) Cell of Rampur Police Sub-Division worked together to trace and arrest the accused after a sustained search.
Police Trace Accused in 2013 Criminal Case
According to the police, Rampur Police Station registered FIR No. 104/2013 under Sections 452, 323, 341, 504, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
Devinder Sharma (45), son of Jawahar Lal and a resident of Dharagada village in Nankhari Tehsil of Shimla district, evaded court proceedings for several years before the police arrested him.
As a result, the Court of the ACJM, Rampur, declared him a proclaimed offender.
Joint Team Launches Targeted Operation
Meanwhile, the Rampur Police Station team and the PO Cell intensified their efforts to locate the accused.
Using technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police successfully tracked his location. Subsequently, officers carried out a planned operation and arrested him from Khuna village on June 27, 2026, following all legal procedures.
Accused to Face Court Proceedings
Following the arrest, the police confirmed that they will produce the accused before the Court of the ACJM, Rampur.
Thereafter, the court will carry out further legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
Shimla Police Vow Strict Action Against Absconders
Furthermore, Shimla Police reaffirmed their commitment to taking strict action against individuals who evade the law.
Officials stated that the special campaign to arrest proclaimed offenders will continue across the district. In addition, the police will ensure the effective execution of court orders through sustained enforcement efforts.
They also emphasized that no absconding accused can evade justice indefinitely. Ultimately, law enforcement agencies will trace and produce every proclaimed offender before the court.
