Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The Employees Union Election concluded with a decisive victory for Santosh Kumar. Subsequently, employees elected him as the President of the Deputy Commissioner Office Employees Union, District Shimla. The election took place during a general body meeting at the Savings Hall in the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Meanwhile, members from various subdivisions attended the meeting to participate in the process.
A large number of authorized representatives from different subdivisions attended the meeting. Outgoing President Amit Thakur chaired the session. He presented the achievements of his tenure. Thereafter, he formally dissolved the previous executive body.
Transparent Voting Process Conducted on Employees Union Election
The Employees Union Election followed a transparent and smooth voting process. Ramit Kumar supervised the election as the Election Officer. Pitambar Sharma assisted him throughout the process.
Voters cast a total of 142 votes for the President’s post. Santosh Kumar secured a strong lead with 89 votes. Meanwhile, his closest rival, Raj Krishna Thakur, received 12 votes. Another candidate, Amit Ghamata, got 40 votes, and officials declared one vote invalid.
As a result, Santosh Kumar won the election by a large margin. His victory reflects strong support from union members.
New Executive Body Formed Unanimously
Along with the Employees Union Election, the new executive committee was also formed. Members selected other office bearers unanimously.
Ashish Thakur became Vice President. Sulakshana Chauhan was chosen as Women Vice President. Heena took charge as Vice President for the fourth-class category.
Further, Khime Ram was appointed General Secretary. Vinod Kashyap became Joint Secretary. Sahil Sharma was selected as Treasurer.
Additionally, presidents elected at the subdivision level will serve as Vice Presidents in the district executive.

The new executive will serve a three-year term. Moreover, the general body granted Santosh Kumar the authority to nominate other members.
After his victory, Santosh Kumar thanked all employees for their support. He said the Employees Union Election reflects unity among staff. He also promised to focus on employee welfare.
