In a shocking incident, senior Congress leader and Block President Parminder Tiwari was killed after being attacked by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Machhiwara area on Sunday evening.
According to preliminary information, the attack took place around 6:30 PM at Tiwari’s residential quarters located in village Hadian. Eyewitnesses reported that the Congress leader was sitting on a chair and talking on the phone when two unidentified men arrived on a motorcycle.
One of the attackers, allegedly carrying an axe, suddenly launched a brutal assault, repeatedly striking Tiwari on the head. The sudden attack left him critically injured and bleeding heavily before he collapsed from the chair.
Family members rushed him to the Machhiwara hospital immediately after the incident. However, due to his critical condition, doctors referred him to a hospital in Ludhiana for advanced treatment. Tiwari succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
Police officials have begun an investigation into the incident and are working to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the killing. The incident has triggered shock and tension in the local political and social circles, with party workers demanding swift action against those responsible.
