Shimla Security Tightened for President Murmu Visit

Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): Security has been significantly tightened in Shimla ahead of the proposed visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Himachal Pradesh, scheduled from April 27 to May 2.

In view of the high-profile visit, district police, in coordination with central and state agencies, have implemented extensive security and traffic arrangements across the city.

On Sunday, a full-scale convoy rehearsal was successfully conducted to assess security preparedness and traffic management for VVIP movement. More than 1,000 police personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations across the district.

Security measures include anti-sabotage checks, strict entry control, CCTV surveillance, route security, and emergency response preparedness. Authorities have ensured that all arrangements are in place to handle any situation effectively.

The administration clarified that no permanent traffic restrictions have been imposed in the city. Movement of residents, tourists, and daily commuters will continue as usual. However, temporary traffic diversions or restrictions may be implemented on certain routes during VVIP movement, which could cause brief disruptions.

District police have urged citizens to plan their travel in advance and follow traffic advisories. People have also been advised to avoid unauthorized roadside parking and give priority to emergency services such as ambulances and fire brigades.
