Rohit Thakur Unveils New School Projects in Mandi

Mandi (Kameshwar Sharma): Rohit Thakur Unveils New School Projects in Deori, Drang Assembly constituency, as Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several educational infrastructure projects. During the programme, he reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing quality and modern education across Himachal Pradesh.

The minister said rebuilding schools damaged by natural disasters remains one of the government’s highest priorities. According to him, the government has allocated funds in phases through the state budget and other financial sources to ensure students continue their education without disruption.

Rohit Thakur Unveils New School Projects and Expands Teacher Recruitment

Rohit Thakur said the government has set a target of recruiting more than 10,000 teachers and lecturers by 2027.

So far, nearly 8,000 appointments have already been completed. As a result, government schools are expected to receive stronger academic support and improved teaching standards across the state.

Students Receive Better Learning Opportunities

The minister highlighted several initiatives aimed at improving education quality.

For the first time, the Himachal Pradesh government has sent 50 students from government schools on an international educational tour. According to Rohit Thakur, the programme gives students from remote areas valuable global exposure and learning opportunities.

He also assured that the government will never compromise on education or student welfare. Moreover, he credited Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership for strengthening the education sector.

Himachal Achieves High Literacy Rate

Rohit Thakur said the government has ensured 90% to 100% budget utilization under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

In addition, he announced that Himachal Pradesh achieved a 99.30% literacy rate in 2025, placing the state among India’s fully literate states. Therefore, he said the government will continue investing in education and school infrastructure.

Meritorious Students and Land Donors Honoured

During the programme, the Education Minister honoured Dasi Devi, a retired Sevadar who donated land for the school, along with her daughters Puni Devi and Chinta Devi.

Meanwhile, he also felicitated Neha, who secured a place in the Himachal Pradesh Board Class 10 Top-10 merit list.

The minister announced ₹15,000 for the Deori Mahila Mandal. Additionally, he declared ₹10,000 for each student group that presented cultural performances during the event.

Public Grievances Reviewed

After the function, Rohit Thakur interacted with local residents and listened to their concerns. He directed officials to resolve public grievances without delay.

Furthermore, he met party workers and honoured six Panchayat Pradhans from the Drang Assembly constituency. Former Minister Kaul Singh Thakur and former Parliamentary Secretary Sohan Lal Thakur also addressed the gathering.
