Rajiv Gandhi Death Anniversary Marked Across Himachal

Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The Rajiv Gandhi Death Anniversary was observed across several educational institutions in Himachal Pradesh with tribute meetings, seminars, and floral homage ceremonies. Through these events, participants remembered the contribution of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi towards building a modern, scientific, and democratic India.

Various universities and educational institutions organized programs to mark the Rajiv Gandhi Death Anniversary. Students, teachers, researchers, and staff members participated enthusiastically and paid tribute to the late leader.

Yaseen Batt, Student State Head of Rajiv Gandhi Study Circle Himachal Pradesh, said that Rajiv Gandhi played a historic role in connecting India with the information and technology revolution. Moreover, he stated that Rajiv Gandhi empowered youth with modern thinking and technology. In addition, he strengthened democracy at the grassroots level through Panchayati Raj institutions.

He further highlighted that Rajiv Gandhi introduced reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions. As a result, women received stronger political and social representation. Therefore, many speakers described his policies as visionary during the Rajiv Gandhi Death Anniversary events.

Main State-Level Program Held at Himachal Pradesh University

The main state-level event for the Rajiv Gandhi Death Anniversary took place at Himachal Pradesh University under the leadership of Prof. Shyam Lal Kaushal, State Coordinator of Rajiv Gandhi Study Circle Himachal Pradesh.

Teachers, non-teaching staff, researchers, and students attended the program in large numbers. Meanwhile, Dr. Shalini Kashmiriya conducted the stage proceedings during the event.

The chief guest, Anju Sharma, former member of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, also attended the program. Organizers formally welcomed her at the beginning of the ceremony.

Apart from Shimla, institutions across the state organized programs on the Rajiv Gandhi Death Anniversary. At Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Rajan Verma led a floral tribute meeting and discussion session.

Similarly, tribute events and seminars took place at Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry under the leadership of Anuj and Abhishek Jangta.

Meanwhile, the HPU Regional Center in Dharamshala organized a seminar under the leadership of Gaurav. Research scholars and students participated in discussions and remembered the contributions of Rajiv Gandhi during the Rajiv Gandhi Death Anniversary programs.
