Chandigarh: Punjab is emerging as a leading center for innovation and entrepreneurship. Young innovators are turning fresh ideas into successful businesses. As a result, the state is creating new opportunities for growth and employment. Strengthening this vision of the Punjab Startup Boost, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann distributed seed grants worth ₹1.07 crore to 31 startups in Chandigarh. The initiative marks another milestone in the state’s startup journey.

31 Startups Receive Financial Support

Under the Punjab Startup Boost initiative, 31 startups received financial assistance from the state government. Seven startups received grants of ₹5 lakh each. Meanwhile, 24 startups received grants of ₹3 lakh each.

The grants were distributed under the Punjab Startup and Business Policy 2026. Notably, the government recently increased the maximum seed grant amount from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh.

Mann said the government wants every promising entrepreneur to receive the support needed to succeed. Therefore, the state is actively investing in innovation-driven businesses.

Punjab Focuses on Innovation and Growth

During the event, the Chief Minister described startups as a major pillar of Punjab’s future economy. He said innovative businesses can drive economic growth and create employment opportunities.

Furthermore, Mann stressed that financial challenges should never stop talented entrepreneurs from pursuing their dreams. The government, therefore, remains committed to supporting startups at every stage.

He also expressed confidence that Punjab’s next generation of successful entrepreneurs will build their companies within the state. Consequently, local employment and income opportunities will increase.

Startups Can Create Thousands of Jobs

The Chief Minister highlighted the role of startups in job creation. He said these ventures could generate thousands of jobs in the coming years.

Moreover, he noted that strong startup growth could help reduce youth migration abroad. Many young people leave India in search of better career opportunities. However, successful local businesses can create attractive opportunities at home.

Increased Grants to Support Entrepreneurs

The Punjab Startup and Business Policy 2026 offers stronger financial backing for startups. The revised policy reflects the government’s focus on entrepreneurship.

Additionally, the higher grant amount will help startups develop products and expand operations. It will also enable founders to transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses.

According to Mann, startup founders deserve support because they are creating solutions that can benefit society and the economy.

Innovation Benefits Citizens

The Chief Minister also spoke about the importance of innovative thinking. He cited initiatives such as free electricity and daytime power supply for farmers.

According to him, innovative ideas can improve people’s lives. Similarly, startups can solve real-world problems through technology and creative business models.

In addition, innovation can strengthen Punjab’s position as a competitive and forward-looking state.

A Historic Day for Punjab’s Startup Ecosystem

Calling the occasion historic, Mann praised the young entrepreneurs receiving grants. He said they are turning their dreams into reality through determination and creativity.

Furthermore, he assured startup founders that the government would continue supporting innovation. New policies and financial assistance programs will help strengthen the startup ecosystem.

The Chief Minister also emphasized that entrepreneurship is becoming a key driver of Punjab’s economic transformation.
