Punjab Cabinet Approves ‘CM Mothers & Daughters Honour Scheme’, Monthly Aid for Women Announced

Punjab Cabinet Clears ₹1,000 Aid Scheme for Women

The Punjab Cabinet has approved the much-awaited ‘Chief Minister Mothers and Daughters Honour Scheme’, marking a major welfare initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to women across the state.

The decision was taken during an ongoing cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The scheme, which was earlier announced during the Punjab Budget Session, has now received official cabinet approval.

Under the scheme, women belonging to the general category will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will be provided ₹1,500 per month as financial support.

The Punjab government has allocated a budget of ₹9,300 crore for the implementation of the scheme. The Finance Minister clarified that the assistance will be provided without any income limit criteria, making the scheme accessible to a large number of beneficiaries.

However, certain eligibility conditions have been defined. Women who are government employees or income taxpayers will not be eligible to avail benefits under the scheme.

Additionally, women who are already receiving old-age pension, widow pension, or destitute pension will still be eligible to benefit from the scheme.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had been under continuous pressure to fulfill its electoral promises made to women voters. With cabinet approval now granted, the scheme is expected to play a significant role in strengthening women’s financial security and social welfare in Punjab.
