Amritsar (Simran Santosh Rajput): The 66 KV Substation Dhardio project received a major boost after Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO laid its foundation stone in Dhardio village under the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency.
The Punjab Government will invest nearly ₹11 crore in the project. Moreover, the initiative aims to modernize the electricity distribution network and ensure reliable power for thousands of consumers.
Project to Improve Electricity Infrastructure
While addressing the gathering, Harbhajan Singh ETO said the 66 KV Substation Dhardio will strengthen the power distribution system and provide uninterrupted electricity to residents.
Furthermore, the project will help meet the region’s increasing electricity demand while preparing the network for future requirements. He also confirmed that construction is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2027.
10 New Feeders and Modern Power Network
The minister said ₹7.80 crore will fund the construction of the substation. Another ₹3 crore will strengthen and develop 10 new 11 KV feeders.
Additionally, the new substation will operate with a 20 MVA power transformer. It will handle a connected load of approximately 14,806 KVA.
Furthermore, a 5.5-kilometre 66 KV transmission line will connect the new facility to the Sathiala Substation. As a result, the project will ensure efficient and reliable electricity transmission.
Thousands of Consumers to Benefit
According to the minister, the 66 KV Substation Dhardio will directly benefit around 14,806 consumers.
As a result, agricultural, domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers will receive better-quality electricity with improved voltage and fewer supply interruptions.
The project will also reduce the load on the existing Mehta and Sathiala substations, thereby improving electricity supply in nearby villages and urban areas.
Villagers Donate Land for Public Project
Harbhajan Singh ETO thanked the residents and Panchayat of Dhardio village for donating 11 kanal and 5 marla of land free of cost for the project.
Meanwhile, villagers welcomed the initiative and expressed confidence that the new substation would significantly improve electricity services across the region.
The minister and PSPCL officials also planted saplings at the project site to mark the foundation-laying ceremony.
