Amritsar: A combined annual training camp of the 9 Punjab Battalion NCC, Amritsar, focused on enhancing cadets’ preparedness for emergencies through advanced practical training and awareness sessions.
As part of the program, cadets underwent hands-on disaster management training designed to strengthen their response skills during natural and man-made disasters. An inter-unit firing competition was also organized, in which cadets from the Amritsar Group NCC actively participated and delivered strong performances.
A special session on the fundamentals of nuclear energy was conducted by representatives of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, Hisar. The session educated cadets on the basic principles of nuclear energy, its peaceful applications, safety measures, and its importance in meeting India’s growing energy needs.
The objective of the session was to increase scientific awareness among cadets and promote responsible use of nuclear technology for national development.
In addition, a comprehensive disaster management training and lecture-cum-demonstration was conducted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), 7th Battalion, Ludhiana. The team provided detailed demonstrations on rescue techniques and emergency response procedures for earthquakes, floods, fires, and other disasters.
Cadets were trained in life-saving skills, evacuation drills, safety precautions, and coordination with civil defence agencies during crisis situations. The practical exposure helped them gain real-time experience in handling emergency scenarios effectively.
The training camp aims to equip cadets with essential skills and knowledge so they can respond efficiently during emergencies and contribute as responsible citizens in supporting civil administration during disasters.
