Manali Police Recover Stolen Car, Arrest Accused in Mandi

Manali (Kameshwar Sharma): In a swift action against vehicle theft, Manali Police have recovered a stolen car and arrested the accused involved in the case.

The case was registered on April 9, 2026, at Police Station Manali under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint filed by Chandni Thakur, resident of Village Vashisht, Post Office Bahang, Tehsil Manali.

According to the complaint, her husband had parked his Alto K10 (registration number HP-02K-2427) at the Volvo Bus Stand in Manali around 7:30 AM on March 26, 2026. He then went inside the bus stand for work. When he returned around 9:30 AM, the vehicle was missing. Despite extensive personal efforts to trace the car, no clue was found.

During the investigation, the police team used technical analysis and human intelligence inputs and successfully recovered the stolen vehicle from Nerchowk in Mandi district on April 22, 2026.

Following the recovery, the accused, identified as Prakash (25), son of Shyam Lal, resident of Village Chol, Post Office Nandi, Tehsil Chachiot, District Mandi, was arrested. The accused has been sent to judicial custody.

Police officials stated that further investigation is underway and strict action will continue against vehicle theft cases to ensure public safety.
