Kullu Monsoon Preparedness Reviewed Ahead of Rainy Season

Kullu (Kameshwar Sharma): The district administration reviewed Kullu Monsoon Preparedness during a virtual meeting chaired by Chief Secretary K.K. Pant. The meeting focused on disaster management and relief preparations ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.

Deputy Commissioner Anurag Chandra Sharma, Superintendent of Police Madan Lal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ashwani Kumar, and senior officials from various departments participated in the review meeting.

Disaster Management Plans Reviewed

During the meeting, officials assessed preparations to tackle potential disasters during the monsoon season. They reviewed response mechanisms and discussed measures to strengthen coordination among departments.

Additionally, authorities announced a table-top drill on June 12 and a mock drill on June 15. These exercises will help evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response systems and inter-departmental coordination.

Departments Present Preparedness Reports

Officials reviewed district-level Monsoon preparedness through detailed presentations. Various departments shared information about manpower, available machinery, and emergency resources.

Furthermore, departments presented plans for restoring road connectivity during emergencies. They also discussed the preparedness of the Jal Shakti Department, Electricity Department, and Public Works Department.

The meeting also reviewed coordination with NDRF and SDRF teams. In addition, officials discussed the storage of essential commodities and advance planning measures for emergency situations.

Focus on Early Warning Systems

Authorities examined the functioning of early warning systems at dams and other vulnerable locations.

Moreover, officials discussed strengthening communication networks and ensuring the availability of satellite phones. They also reviewed plans for maintaining adequate stocks of food grains, medicines, and other essential supplies.

As a result, departments received directions to address existing gaps and improve disaster preparedness before the arrival of heavy rains.

Tourist and Pilgrim Safety Remains Priority

The meeting placed special emphasis on implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for religious pilgrimages and trekking activities during the monsoon season.

Meanwhile, officials directed departments to ensure the safety of tourists and pilgrims in sensitive areas. They also stressed the timely dissemination of weather alerts and continuous coordination among all concerned agencies.

Deputy Commissioner Anurag Chandra Sharma said the district administration remains fully alert ahead of the monsoon season.

Furthermore, all departments have received instructions to complete their preparedness measures within the stipulated timeline. The administration aims to minimize loss of life and property during any emergency situation.
