Shimla (Kameshwar Sharma): The Himachal Heatwave Alert has put the entire state of Himachal Pradesh under severe weather stress. In recent days, extreme heat conditions have gripped several regions. Consequently, temperatures have crossed normal levels by a wide margin.
More than 10 cities are now recording temperatures above 35°C. Due to this rise, daily life has become difficult, especially in the afternoon hours. People are avoiding outdoor movement during peak heat.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for multiple districts due to continuing heatwave conditions.
Heatwave Grips Major Cities Including Una and Shimla
The impact of the Himachal Heatwave Alert is clearly visible across major cities. In Una, the temperature has surged to 44°C, making it the hottest recorded location in the state.
Similarly, high temperatures have also been reported in other regions such as Bilaspur and Solan. As a result, residents are facing extreme discomfort. Additionally, Shimla, which usually enjoys cooler weather, is also witnessing unusual temperature rise. This sudden change has surprised both locals and tourists.
IMD Issues Yellow and Orange Alerts
To address the situation, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in select districts. These include Una, Bilaspur, and parts of Solan.
Moreover, authorities have issued a stronger orange alert for upcoming weather disturbances. They expect districts like Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla to experience heavy rain, hailstorms, and thunderstorms. In response, authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Weather changes will continue across the region for the next 72 hours.
Health Advisory Issued Amid Rising Temperatures
As the Himachal Heatwave Alert continues, the health department has issued a public advisory. According to officials, children, elderly people, and pregnant women should avoid direct sunlight.
Moreover, people have been advised not to step outside between 11 AM and 3 PM. During this time, the sun is at its peak intensity. In addition, citizens are encouraged to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary travel during extreme heat conditions.
Western Disturbance to Bring Weather Change
A western disturbance will become active in the afternoon, bringing relief despite the ongoing heatwave. Consequently, it will change weather conditions across the state.
As per forecasts, strong winds, lightning, and rain may occur in several districts. Wind speeds could reach 50 to 60 km/h in some areas. Therefore, while heat dominates today, cooler and unstable weather is expected shortly after.
Agricultural Loss Concerns Rise
The Himachal Heatwave Alert has also raised concerns among farmers and orchard owners. Sudden hailstorms and strong winds may damage crops in the coming days.
In particular, fruit growers in mid and lower hill regions are worried about potential losses. Since agriculture is a key livelihood source, any damage could have a significant impact.
Temperature Trends Remain Above Normal
Over the past three days, heatwave conditions have persisted across Himachal Pradesh. Temperatures are currently 4°C to 6°C above normal levels. For example, Mandi recorded 38.6°C, while Hamirpur touched 40.7°C.
Experts predict a slight rise of 1–2°C in some regions before the weather shifts. However, conditions are expected to improve once rainfall begins.
