Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Employees Protest Over Unpaid Salaries

Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Employees Protest Over Salary

Amritsar (Suraj Kamlesh): Anger is growing among contract workers at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital after employees staged a strong protest against the Punjab government and health authorities over unpaid salaries and pending regularization demands. The Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Employees Protest took place outside the Medical Superintendent’s office at Government Medical College on Friday.

Workers raised slogans against the administration and warned officials of a major strike if their salaries are not released within one week. The protest was organized by the Coordination Committee of Paramedical and Health Workers Union.

Employees Angry Over Unpaid Salaries

During the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Employees Protest, union leaders strongly criticized the Punjab government and hospital authorities. They said contract employees continue to suffer because officials have failed to release salaries on time.

Union president Narendra Singh claimed that many workers have served in the hospital for more than 15 years on a contract basis. However, the government has still not regularized their jobs.

He also alleged that officials keep giving different excuses regarding salary payments. Sometimes, authorities cite lack of budget funds. On other occasions, officials reportedly mention pending data feeding work and missing employee IDs.

As a result, contract workers have become increasingly frustrated and angry.

Workers Threaten Strike Action

The Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Employees Protest turned more aggressive when union leaders warned of a complete strike if authorities fail to resolve the issue quickly.

According to the protesting employees, they will launch a strike within one week if salaries remain unpaid. They also stated that the administration will be fully responsible for any disruption in hospital services.

Workers said delayed salaries have created serious financial difficulties for employees and their families. Therefore, they demanded immediate release of pending wages along with a clear policy for regularization.

Long Service but No Permanent Jobs

One of the biggest issues raised during the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Employees Protest was the regularization of long-serving contract workers.

Employees claimed that many staff members have worked continuously for over 15 years. Despite this, the government has not offered them permanent positions.

Union leaders argued that workers who have served the healthcare system for such a long time deserve job security and equal benefits. They also demanded respect and fair treatment from the administration.

Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Employees Protest: Pressure Increases on Punjab Government

The Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Employees Protest has now increased pressure on the Punjab government and hospital administration to resolve the issue quickly.

Healthcare workers said they have waited patiently for years. However, continued delays in salary payments and regularization have pushed them toward agitation.

Moreover, employees warned that if authorities ignore their demands, larger protests could take place in the coming days.

Employees Demand Immediate Solution

Contract workers demanded immediate payment of salaries, permanent job status and an end to administrative delays. They also asked the government to address employee grievances with seriousness and urgency.
