Founder Abhijeet Deepak told PTI that they expected the move because people had reportedly been attempting to hack their account since the previous day. He claimed that the action backfired and increased public attention toward the movement.

Within an hour of launching the new X account, it gained around 16,800 followers. According to Deepak, the original Cockroach Janata Party account had over 201,000 followers.

The movement started after comments made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a hearing, where he used words like “parasite” and “cockroach” while expressing frustration toward a lawyer seeking seniority status. Later, the Chief Justice clarified that his remarks targeted people entering the legal profession through fake degrees.

The campaign quickly spread across social media and received support from politicians, activists, artists, and many young users. While authorities suspended the X account in India, the Instagram page continued to remain active with around 14.3 million followers.
