Amritsar (Dawarka Nath Rana): CITU announces protest following a dispute involving alleged harassment and property-related issues. Moreover, the matter has triggered strong reactions from union members.
CITU held a meeting at its office in Putli Ghar.During the meeting, members discussed the case of worker Jaspal Sharma in detail.
Allegations in the Amritsar Property Dispute
According to the discussion, Jaspal Sharma has been facing harassment from his daughter-in-law and son. Moreover, the accused allegedly forced him out of his home on March 7, 2024.
The Amritsar property dispute reportedly involves control over a house property. Therefore, union members claim that the accused attempted to take possession of the property.
In addition, allegations of physical assault and verbal abuse were also raised during the meeting. However, these claims are currently based on complaints and are under review.
Forced Stay Outside Home
Reports suggest that Jaspal Sharma has not been allowed to enter his home for nearly two and a half years. Therefore, he has been living in a rented accommodation.
Moreover, he has reportedly filed a complaint at Cheharta Police Station seeking legal action.
In addition, the matter has now reached union-level intervention due to escalating concerns.
CITU Plans Protest Action
Following the CITU Announces Protest meeting, CITU members decided to launch a protest. Moreover, they announced a demonstration on 17 June 2026.
The protest will include a gherao of Cheharta Police Station. Therefore, union leaders aim to pressure authorities for a quick resolution.
In addition, workers said the protest is intended to demand justice for Jaspal Sharma.

Several union leaders participated in the meeting. Moreover, they strongly criticized the alleged harassment.
Key leaders included Comrade Sucha Singh Ajnala, State Vice President, and Charanjit Majitha, District President. In addition, other members such as Kiranpa Ram, Vijay Kumar, and Mahinder Khaira were present.
